Video: Wicked Twin-Turbo Tuxedo Chevelle

This is not a dig at the AutotopiaLA crew because it should be understood that shooting heavily modified cars and accurately portraying them as the stunning works of art they are takes quite a bit of editing. This is a concept that the crew is clearly aware of and most of their videos are, well, heavily edited. However, for this particular car that was built by Hood Muscle Cars the footage was pretty raw in comparison. While this is our opinion, it is also our opinion that the video was perfect and a true representation of the car itself, a twin-turbo Chevelle sporting a black and white finish and riding high on 22-inch wheels.

While the interior of the car is pretty much all classic 1970 Chevelle besides the TMI seats, the exterior is as custom as stock sheet metal gets. Everything that would’ve come from the factory finished in chrome has been blacked out and the body has been refinished in one of the crispest shades of white. Under the hood is a 5.3-liter LS-based engine that was built by Dandre Harrison. Forced induction is provided by a pair of Nelson Racing 72-mm turbos feeding a 92-mm throttle body. Other modifications include a BTR stage 2 cam, a 3k-rpm stalled converter, and a 3.73:1 ratio Ford 9-inch rear end.

With an expected output of somewhere around 800-horsepower, this build is both visually stunning and mechanically wicked and the video definitely does it justice. The burnout portion of this shoot is particularly interesting and the look on Shawn’s face says it all.
