VIDEO: CPP Announces Pro-Touring Fuel Tank for 1962-1967 Nova

First-generation Novas have been a popular choice for pro-touring enthusiasts for well over a decade. With stellar looks and similar underpinnings to a first-gen Camaro, for a fraction of the cost, it’s easy to see why. There are plenty of different companies that offer performance hardware, but Classic Performance Products (CPP) is one of the main ones you want to look at.

From suspension, brakes, steering columns and other necessary components to make your car fully-functional and competitive on the road course. These are the most obvious components that you will need to make things happen. But if you really want to eliminate any “weak links” in your build recipe, you’ll dig a little deeper and improve every aspect of your car. A perfect example, is the new aluminum Pro-Touring Fuel Tank for 1962-1967 Nova.

Official Release:

CPP’s all new Pro-Touring Fuel Tank for 1962 through 1967 Chevy Nova is designed with high performance applications in mind. The tank works with carbureted or fuel-injected engines and is easily installed using the factory mounting locations. It features an integrated surge tank designed to keep the fuel pickup submerged and can be used with one fuel pump for moderate street use or two pumps for high g-force applications.

When utilizing two fuel pumps, the pump mounted in the main body acts as a lift pump to keep the surge tank filled. This prevents the fuel system from drawing in air during hard acceleration, braking and cornering. The Pro-Touring tank can be visually distinguished by its sleek side cutouts which help the tank “hide” underneath the car even though it has a massive 22-gallon capacity. These cutouts also provide a significant amount of room for exhaust routing.

The tank is made of ¼” aluminum, making it the thickest and strongest in the industry. It accepts five and six-bolt sending units and uses industry-standard six-bolt fuel pump mounts. The new tank also has two 3/8” NPT bungs welded in for use as a drain and an extra vent. A block-off plate is supplied in case a second fuel pump is not used. The Pro-Touring tank is available in both raw aluminum or black powdercoated.

Features:

  • 22-gallon capacity
  • Aluminum construction
  • Cleaner design than OEM
  • Can be used for EFI and carbureted applications
