A well-documented, numbers matching restored 1969 Plymouth Road Runner caught our eye when it was listed on eBay. This drool-worthy piece of machine is perfect at every corner, and has us itching to make an offer!
This Road Runner is an incredible car. It was fully restored in 1997 with correct/numbers matching everything. It’s a perfect example of what you get when professionals really give a restoration all of their blood, sweat, and tears.
Under the hood you’ll find an original 426 cubic inch Hemi V8. This legendary elephant block uses the iron cylinder heads, over squared bore, forged crankshaft, forged steel rods, forged aluminum piston, and a hydraulic camshaft. The 10.25:1 compression engine makes 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque.
If you kept poking around the engine bay, you’d find that everything is original. From the battery, to the correct Carter carb and correct intake, to the factory spec wires, it all adds up. The restorers even went as far as to use the old school style squeeze clamps on the radiator hoses — now that’s an extreme attention to detail!
Of course, a good restoration never ends with what’s under the hood, what’s really telling is what you see end to end. The body is straight and flawless, the doors have no sag from old springs, and there’s no imperfections in the paint. The panels all align better than they did from the factory.
Inside the Road Runner is the correct pewter & black interior, correct bucket seats in the front, and correct rear bench seating. The carpets are stain and wear free, color-keyed, and all of the original branding. This stunning 1969 Plymouth Road Runner looks exactly (actually, a little better) as it did rolling off the production line.
