Pro-touring has elevated the muscle car genre to a level that has never been seen before. In the early days, a ’69 Camaro with some thicker sway bars, 17-inch wheels, 5-speed transmission and a late-model, EFI-equipped engine was all you really needed to be competitive.
However, things change, and technology has a tendency to improve as it evolves. These days car like this ’70 Camaro with a supercharged LSA and a 6-speed automatic, paddle-shifted gearbox is the norm.
Owned by James Shipka, the One Lap World War Z features not only this powertrain borrowed from a 2013 Camaro ZL1, but aa slew of other mouth-watering modifications that crosses boundaries and carries, into other genres of the automotive hobby. You can say it’s 95% pro-touring, and 5% “stance,” but we won’t rib James too much for that last one.
Modifications to the LSA are quite functional; a BTR Stage III blower camshaft, Lingenfelter blower pulley, a custom dual-pump fuel system and naturally, a Nitrous Outlet 200hp cheater system for good measure. The engine is also equipped with a custom dual K&N ram air intake, Holley LS swap oil pan and custom trans pan. The LSA powerplant is held to the frame with a complete BRP Muscle Rods LS Swap kit and long-tube headers.
Keeping the Camaro planted to the pavement is a RideTech Stage 2 air suspension system, with SPC fully-adjustable tubular upper control arms. The Camaro is brought to a halt with a 14-inch Wilwood brake system at all four corners. Detroit Speed wheel tubs house RSV forged 19-inch wheels also lend help to the cause, measuring 19-inches in diameter; 11-inch wide in the front and 13.5-inches in the rear.
Some of the other details that round out the Camaro, which James labels as a RS/ZL1, are depicted below.
- ANVIL auto full carbon hood/inner-fenders/fender support rods
- Ring Brothers body hardware and door strikers
- Full carbon fiber front and back bumpers
- Billet hood struts
- Full alcantera and leather custom interior
- Full RACEPAK iQ3 dash kit
- Sparco seats, alcantera steering wheel and belts
- Push-button trans controller and paddleshifters from SHRIFTER
All custom body, fender flares, exhuast and engine mods were performed by Cyrious GarageWorks, and we give a shot to Pro-Touring.com for helping grab out attention with this car.
