With so much emphasis on late-mode engine swaps these days, the most obvious next step is selecting a gearbox that will suffice for your racing, driving and performance needs. While American Powertrain is happy to help you with that, they’ve also made it easier to swap various Turbo-Hydramatic, Muncie and Tremec transmissions into your classic muscle car with unique cross members and other vehicle-specific hardware.
In fact, just today they have announced their brand new X-Factor Modular Aluminum Cross Member for the 1963-67 Chevy II/Nova. With such a growing demand for those first-generation Novas growing, it only made sense for American Powertrain to fulfill that need. They’ve sent over the official release below, that highlights al of the interesting features and benefits for this very unique piece!
American Powertrain X-Factor Modular Aluminum Cross Member for 1963-67 Chevy II/Nova
(Cookeville, TN) American Powertrain introduces its new X-Factor modular cross member for 1963-67 Chevy II/Nova. Made from powder coated T-6061 aluminum this cross member bolts to the original unibody crossmember mounts and provides clearance for up to 3.50-inch exhaust.
The X-Factor for early Novas is adjustable to fit the TREMEC TKO, T56/Magnum, Muncie, T10 and LGT700 manual transmissions along with the TH350, TH400, 700R4 and 4l60/65/70E automatics among others. It is compatible with common GM isolator mounts or American Powertrain’s ISO-X ballistic mounts.
Each cross member comes with the modular aluminum center section, steel sub-frame mounting plates, a height adjustable bridge plate and installation hardware. As with all X-factor cross members, the First Gen Nova X-Factor is tested to withstand over 1000ft-lbs of twist. The lightweight construction means big weight savings over steel and it looks cool too.
The X-Factor for 1963-67 Chevy II/Nova is available now and retails for around $350.00. Every X-Factor cross member is backed by American Powertrain’s 2-year warranty.
