Jim and Mike Ring, co-founders of the Ringbrothers, were born to work on cars. They’ve made quite a name for themselves with their unique builds. Their general philosophy is to make cars the way they think they should have been made.
Jim and Mike were the youngest of seven kids growing up. Their dad owned a gas station, and the brothers were always fascinated by cars. Their business kind of unofficially began when Jim found a 1969 Camaro Pace Car he wanted, and the bank loaned him the $5k he needed to get it. He took the car home and restored it in his mom’s basement — that restoration was happening while they were working on different cars in a separate building. From Porsches to Ford GTs, they’ve put in their time doing restoration.
The brothers eventually got bored doing restorations. They decided that cutting the cars up and doing customizations was more up their ally. The first car that people really took note of from the brothers was a yellow 1968 Camaro. They cut that car up and went way over the top with it. When the took it to its first car show, the reaction they got wasn’t 100% positive.
With such unique builds, store bought parts weren’t going to cut it. They resorted to modifying the store bought parts until they finally resolved to making their own parts. This really raised the bar once the brothers started showing up at shows with builds you couldn’t even find the parts for elsewhere.
It’s their attention to detail and desire for perfection that sets their builds apart. Their business is a team of people who share that same desire and passion to make a final product that will wow. That’s why the builds that leave this custom shop in Wisconsin are some of the most talked about in the industry.
