No, it’s not AI or a fan-made rendering. It’s not a ‘what if’ pipe dream concept car from GM. This is real, and it exists. It runs, drives, growls, and lays down over 700hp to the rear tires, in this instance. It’s not even the first of its kind, but it is an example that’s unique all its own. The 70/SS is a car that you can special order, customize to your specific tastes, and ultimately, park it in your garage.
Trans Am Worldwide has long made a name for itself with its Camaro conversions; first with Trans Ams, then with GTOs. In the last couple of years, they’ve paused Trans Am production, focusing on creating ’70 Chevelle tribute cars. How? Simple.
They use 2016+ Alpha-platform Camaros just like they had in the past, but the truth is, literally only the chassis and basic running gear remain. Well, even those are extensively modified or replaced all together, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
We’ve ran some digital ink on these cars before, but this is the first one that features a (carbon fiber) removable hardtop, a 1970 hue of blue that’s paired with an iconic white leather interior, and other unique details. This particular example was ordered by one Sammy Martin, after happening upon Mr Brad Phitzer’s car from a previous installment appeared at an airport in Mississippi, during delivery.
Sammy’s car, is packing a Magnuson2650–supercharged LT4 that’s developing 800hp at the flywheel, or about 720hp to the tires. The exhaust was designed to emulate the sound of an original big-block ’70 Chevelle, with the help of Trans Am Worldwide’s “396” stroker camshaft.
Now, for clarification, it’s not a camshaft for an original 396 Chevelle, it’s the name of a custom grind bumpstick of Trans Am Worldwide’s own design, used in another package offered by Trans Am Worldwide.
