The team at Timeless Muscle Magazine would like to congratulate Alton Clements, the 2017 NMRA Renegade Champion!
Since 2007, Alton Clements has been a fierce competitor in the Renegade class with his Fox Mustang notchback. Powered by a Vortech-supercharged 365-inch Windsor, Altonâs notch has a best time of 7.44 @ 185. While having a fast car is great, itâs consistency that wins championshipsâand thatâs exactly what Alton and his team were, winning the Renegade class at almost every event. Being consistent and going to each race with confidence has been the motivating factor for team Clements throughout this season.
âWe go into each race thinking weâre going to winâthatâs why we come.â Says Alton in the video. However, his overall confidence should not be mistaken for arrogance, as heâs quick to note that any race can be won or lost at the drop of the hat. âWeâve been very lucky this year. Weâve also been very good at what weâve been doing.â
Over the past 20-plus years, the NMRA has established itself to be the premier Mustang drag racing sanctioning body for the worldâs quickest Mustangs, with the Renegade class being a staple for most of that time. The competition is tight, and while other classes may fluctuate greatly with its participants, the Renegade class is rock-steady. Many racers whoâve come up through its ranks have become household names in the Mustang worldâas the NMRA has become the standard to which everyone else is measured. If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
Whatâs in store for Alton and his team for 2018? Hopefully, more winning, but only time will tell. Thereâs not much of a need to mess with a winning combination, but we know that Alton will be staged and ready for another championship season in 2018! Congratulations, Alton!
