The inaugural LS Fest West is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events of the year for the GM community. Held from May 5th-7th at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, this event is going to give people who live in the western part of the United States a chance to experience the popular Holley LS Fest, without the grueling migration to Bowling Green, KY. Some of the segments will carry over, while others will be unique to the west. The drag racing segment is always a popular one, and to make sure you choose the right class, Lonnie Grimm walks you through each one in this video.
A lot is going down at the Las Vega Motor Speedway drag strip. Here are the classes in simple terms:
True Street: Cars in this class will be required to go on a 30 mile cruise, cool down, and then must run three laps on the track. What they’re looking for here is consistency. This is a 9 second through 15 second class and the winner will get an award and a cash prize.
Outlaw True Street: Similar to the True Street class, this will have a 15 mile cruise, but will then be conducted in an elimination style.
LSX Rumble: From daily drivers to serious street cars will race in this index-style race.
Street King: This class is held in 1/4 second indexes, and is a good class for cars running equipment like trans brakes.
Late Model Heads Up: This is a class that caters to late model vehicles that came from the factory with at least an 18” wheel and 245 tire.
LS Outlaw 275: Since 275 radial racing has been the hottest racing class as of late, it wouldn’t be a drag event without it! This is a heads up racing class with a big money prize at the end. Just as long as you’re riding on a 275 radial and have nerves of steel, you can sign up for this 1/8th mile event.
Test and Tune: The track will be open for test and tune passes if you’re not down for a challenge and just want to have some fun!
